Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)

My new found love is the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, also known as Amazon EC2.  They offer a robust set of tools to allow you to launch an on demand Linux or Windows instance to do your bidding.  You can easily scale the performance of your instance up or down accordingly, which comes in handy when you know traffic is going to increase due to a known event.  Say you are doing a huge marketing push for your website and know you are going to get more hits than your current Amazon instance can handle for example.  Just throw your instance some more resources, then scale it back after the campaign is over.  Genius.  You only pay for what you use and your end users gets a snappy experience, no matter what the circumstances.
